Brief History of the Winter Symposium on cancer in Sapporo

The first Winter Symposium was held in 1987, from February 4 to 5.

It originated as an offshoot of the activities of the Sapporo Cancer Seminar Foundation, with the generous sponsorship of the Foundation for Total Health Promotion, whose President Mitsuo Shikano, has continued to be a generous sponsor.

We should also like to warmly acknowledge the generous sponsorship of Taiho Pharmaceutical Industry Co. Ltd., under its President Yukio Kobayashi, who has assisted us since the beginning of the 11th Winter Symposium. These two successful companies, under the leadership of these gentlemen, have assisted the Winter Symposium very enthusiastically and have contributed to the growing success of the symposia.
